Kathy Barker

Like all not-for-profit organizations, Meals on Wheels Kitsap depends on the enthusiasm, versatility and contributions of volunteers to meet its mission.  There is no doubt that Kathy Barker demonstrates her unwavering support for our organization in all that she does.

After retiring, Kathy desired to do something meaningful for her community. She learned that Meals on Wheels was looking for volunteers, and in 2017, she joined the organization as a home delivered meals driver.

After delivering hot meals to homebound seniors, Kathy noticed a need for additional help at the Meals on Wheels Kitsap office.  She was able to apply her administrative knowledge and office skills to support the workflow of various office duties.  Once she started volunteering with the organization, she discovered all the support services available to our community seniors.  "I was intrigued by all the wonderful services that I wasn’t aware of until I began volunteering here,” says Kathy. Additionally, she shares her passion for helping others by assisting her church with preparing and serving meals to those in need. 

 Meals on Wheels Kitsap is grateful for Kathy’s versatility and contributions to so many program areas. "I just love helping with Jingle Fest and the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program and enjoy helping my community."
