About Us

Many people have heard of Meals on Wheels Kitsap, but few really know who we are and what we do.

We are the folks who deliver noontime meals to home-bound seniors. The meals are delivered by volunteer drivers who not only deliver the meals, but also spend a few minutes visiting and doing a visual check of the surroundings to ensure our clients are safe and well in their homes.

Occasionally our drivers may find a senior who has fallen or is ill. Depending on the situation, help is called. It may be "911" if the situation is serious or it may be a family member to ask them to look in on their loved one. If there is any reason for concern, no one rests until the issue is resolved and our senior client is safe. Meals on Wheels Kitsap is the safety net, the knock on the door that will bring help if needed. We are the ones our seniors count on to be there for them.

For adult children who live out of Kitsap County, Meals on Wheels Kitsap is the one who looks in on their parents on a consistent basis. While delivering meals, we can make sure their parents are safe and alert them to any changes or concerns we may notice. Meals on Wheels Kitsap is the eyes and ears. We are the peace of mind.

We also operate nine community dining meal sites for folks 60 years of age and older. At our meal sites, clients are served hot, nutritious meals and can socialize with others. For most clients who dine at one of our meal sites, it is the social interaction and participation in activities that keep them coming back. Many of our clients live alone and the opportunity to visit with others helps keep their minds healthy and alert. Meals on Wheels Kitsap volunteers also keep a watchful eye on meal site diners and may contact a client's family or friend if they notice a concern of any kind. Meals on Wheels Kitsap is a resource for help and information. We are a group of people who care.
