About the Silver Plate Awards

Meals on Wheels Kitsap accepts nominations year-round for the Silver Plate Awards. The Silver Plate Awards program recognizes ordinary senior citizens, aged 60 years or older, who are making extraordinary differences throughout the Kitsap County community. Award recipients are honored at an Annual Silver Plate Awards Breakfast during the month of May.

We are now accepting nominations for the 2018 Silver Plate Awards. This year, award recipients will be recognized at the special awards breakfast held in their honor on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at the Kitsap Conference Center.

Who May Submit Nominations

Individuals and organizations involved with seniors may submit nominations to Meals on Wheels Kitsap throughout the year. The nominations postmark deadline is March 31st of each year. The selection committee meets during the month of April and awards are presented to recipients in May.

How to Obtain and Submit a Nomination Form
  • Nominations are now being accepted April 1, 2018 through March 31, 2019 for the 2019 Silver Plate Awards.
  • Call our office to request a nomination form be mailed to you.
  • Download a nomination form in PDF format and return it to our office.
  • Electronically submit your nomination form by clicking the Online Submission button below.

Nomination Guidelines
  • The individual must be 60 years of age or older and be a Kitsap County resident for at least one (1) year.
  • Major emphasis should be placed on the individual’s contributions made to the community after reaching age 60. However, prior contributions may be considered.
  • Service in any field of endeavor should be considered ( i.e., business, military, government, education, health care, art, music, athletics, politics, social services, faith-based, and volunteer service).

Proceeds from the Silver Plate Awards Breakfast will benefit Meals on Wheels Kitsap. Founded in 1973, Meals on Wheels Kitsap is the only community-based, nonprofit meal service program offering home delivery and group dining options exclusively for Kitsap County seniors, aged 60 years and older.
