We'd like to thank everyone for voting for and coming out in support of Meals on Wheels Kitsap. Funds raised through our participation in Clearwater Casino's Fat Tuesday Parade of Service will be used programs benefiting home-bound seniors throughout Kitsap County. Finally, none of this would have been possible without the support of our Board members and volunteers -- from pre-planning and float building to parading around the casino. We couldn't have done it without you. We look forward to participating again in 2015.
What is Fat Tuesday?
Sponsored by Clearwater Casino, Fat Tuesday Parade of Service occurs every year with 15-20 not-for-profit organizations competing for much needed funding for their organization. The parade occurs on Fat Tuesday. However, organizations plan months in advance and participate in a float-building competition. Then, for an entire month prior to the night of the parade, the general public and club members have an opportunity to vote for their favorite float. All organizations receive monetary support just for participating. However, additional support is awarded to the top three floats based on judging and public and club member votes.
